On A High

I just came back from piano class and i am so excited.
I am on a high.
Honestly, i almost decided to stop classes for a while after my exam because i lost my passion but learning with teacher Victor has reignited that passion.
It's the fact that he's playing for me songs that are really beautiful. He's also teaching me to be a performer and showing me how to be confident with what i do and play.

It's also the fact that when he says you're good, you know he's not lying or saying it to be nice. In other words, he doesn't bullshit. :P
I played my adored Richard Clayderman song for him and he said i played beautifully. Bangga! Haha. But really, after i finished playing he said to Maulika "You asked me how do you play confidently. This is how you play confidently."
He said that it was so obvious that i loved that song. Even though it's his "enemy's" song. :P
I have not gotten fed up of that song yet. Been playing it at least 20 times a day. There's always something more i feel that i can make better.

Now it looks like I'm playing 3 songs for the end-of-year concert.

1. Hit the Road Jack
It's a jazz song and i won't be in the spotlight. Pfft. Haha. I'm the accompanist. The spotlight will be on this girl Puteri who will be singing.
(she has an amazing voice *jealous* lol )
We did some changes and decided to change the name Jack to Cat and woman to man. If you heard the song, you'll understand why. We'll have to wear matching black outfits it seems. Like the Blues Brothers or something...
Cool right? :D

2. Sunrise, Sunset
This is a solo piece which is nice and because I'm so pumped, it looks easy. I don't think I'll be saying that 2moro though. :)

3. The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy
This is a duet I'll be playing with Maulika. She almost begged teacher to have a song with me. It's a lovely song and i think rather appropriate because the concert is in December.
We haven't decided who will be playing Secondo and Primo.

I am actually really excited to play even though i have never performed and this will be a pretty big show. Lots of guests from outside will be coming and this important person. We have to show that although we may not be a top-notch music center but we can perform as well as this VIP's students.

I'm just really glad that i have 6 months to prepare. Phew..

I'm going to fall asleep smiling tonight :D
