I spent the weekend at school.
Noo, i'm not a nerd.
But what's wrong with nerds anyway, huh?
I'll have you know...ok, off the topic already :P
I had a first aid course and exam.
On Saturday we revised whatever we learnt.
Like how to bandage a broken arm and what kind of knot we should use.
We also did CPR on a dummy. It was fun, but very annoying coz i think the dummy was broken or something. No matter how much you tilted the head, pinched the nose or sealed your lips to the dummy's mouth, the chest would not rise.
I think i did it correct anyway because the guy who came to help refresh our memories didn't comment.
Oh, and i answered his question correctly and he had a look of surprise on his face.
I think coz i was really nervous and he expected me to fumble.
The question was "When do you start CPR?"
You'd think that it was very basic right? It is. But people get it wrong anyway coz they'll say "When the person is unconscious." but the answer is "When the person is unconscious and is not breathing."
Afterwards for the few of us who stayed on, he gave soalan bocor. Haha.
Thank you anyway. He was a very scary instructor but in the end he was pretty fun. :)
Then on Sunday we had our first aid exam.
The person who taught us all those weeks back came. His name was Silas. But somehow or rather i keep thinking of him as Sir Silas. I think people were calling him sir.
He's really nice and very fun to learn from. Of course, he did show us pictures of amputated limbs and stuff on our first day :/
Anyway, we had the paper exam first.
In my opinion, this was the most nerve wracking part. I didn't study at all the day before and felt unprepared compared to everyone else. Thank God for the extra hour of reading in the hall.
I don't know how i did on it because he never told us our marks.
Then, me, Amalia and Farrah went to 7-E for our 'breakfast'. Haha.
Eating Maggi is such a nutritious way to start the day. :P
We ate while waiting for our turn in the hall for the practical part of the test.
This involved doing CPR on a dummy (a mannequin, not a dumb person :P) and Silas would ask us questions after completing a cycle or two (2 breaths, 30 compression=1 cycle).
I did alright. He corrected me on where to place the palm of my hand but other than that i got on with it alright.
The question he asked me was "When do you stop CPR?". Can you see? First it was when do i start, then it was, when do i stop.
Ticking it off with my fingers i answered:
"When the ambulance arrives. When the patient regains consciousness or starts coughing. When someone else is going to take over and when you are too tired and no one else is around."
Smart right? :D
Then while waiting, me, Farrah, Amalia and Jean sat down at the school entrance thing and started to chatchatchat and listened to MJ songs.
Suddenly, Farrah and I decided to dance like the Thriller music video.
Seriously, we had fun. Jean recorded us and it was hilarious to watch ourselves.
Some guys who passed by were too embarrassed to look at us.
I guess we were pretty embarrassing. :P
Then, Amalia and Farrah started to...urm...violate Jean. Ahahaha!
Some form 1 boys passed by and look slight embarrassed and horrified. I pity them. :P
We were having so much fun we didn't realise how quiet everything was and that everyone had gathered inside the hall.
Guess what?!
Our whole batch passed!
We are now certified first aiders! :)
I like the feeling of being useful.
Useful ok? Not used...
i'll lock lips with you anytime ;P
